Eight years ago our Guild sponsored and formed a chapter of Project Linus for Houlton/Southern Aroostook County. Project Linus is a volunteer based organization and comprised of hundreds of local chapters and thousands of volunteers across the United States. Each volunteer and local chapter all work together to help us achieve the Project Linus mission statement, which states:
First, it is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”
Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.
Together our chapter has distributed over 1000 blankets to children in need in Southern Aroostook County since our formation of our chapter. We have blankets at all emergency services, hospitals, schools, etc. from Mars Hill to Benedicta. Project Linus gives blankets to children in need from the ages of 0 to 18 and if you hear of a child in need of a blanket, please contact Kim Hazlett at 532 1550 or Karen Gallop at 532 2445. We will get a blanket to the child or in your hands as soon as possible. You may also complete the form below to contact us. Frequently Asked Questions
