About Us
The Friends and Needles Quilt Guild has been in existence for over 25 years.  The past few years our guild has seen tremendous growth in membership, activities, and contributions to the community.

Meetings are held monthly from September through June and each meeting involves door prizes, fat quarter raffles, and sometimes - food.  This year we are meeting at Houlton Regional Hospital Community Education Center.

The past couple of years we have taken a “Mystery Bus Tour” to quilt shops around the state, but this year the bus trip was to the State Quilt Show in Augusta.  We will also have an annual retreat weekend in the winter.

Several Saturday workshops are planned this year, and in the past we all joined together to support the Project Linus effort on Make a Blanket Day.  Click this link to see photos of "blanketeers" in action.  We are happy to report that we have a good supply of blankets and did not hold a Make a Blanket Day in 2010 or 2011.  Instead members made blankets at home in a competition for a new sewing machine and other prizes.

Members contribute time and talent to create a raffle quilt, sell tickets, and raise money for our scholarship to a deserving senior and for other community needs.

We are an affiliate of the Pine Tree Quilt Guild of Maine.  Link to their website at: http://www.mainequilts.org/

Traveling to quilt shows and other guilds is another benefit. See Kim's trip at  Empire Quilt Show-New York City

See Joyce's Carol Doak workshop and visit with Ladies of the Lake Guild in Lakeland, Florida at Florida Quilt Adventures
The Ladies of the Lake is our "Sister Guild" and their website is at http://www.ladiesofthelakes.com/.

We formed the Southern Aroostook Project Linus Chapter distributing over 600 quilts/blankets to date to children living in Aroostook County.   Follow this link to read more about  Project Linus.

Throughout the year, there are many opportunities to get involved with our guild.
