Our 2010 Quilt Show held August 20 through the 22 was another success story. Hundreds of beautiful quilts were on display throughout the Houlton Elks building. All the quilts were photographed and available for viewing on a television in the lounge. Vendors sold lots of fabric, quilt kits, notions, and sewing machines to happy shoppers who came from all points of the compass from Fort Kent to Farmington to Falmouth to Fredericton, NB. A highlight this year was the exhibit of a unique mixed technique quilt by Laura Peterson called simply "The Quilt Show". To see a photo of the quilt and read her narrative of its creation visit her website at http://www.laurapetersonquilts.com. Our Silent Auction featured wall hangings, bags, table runners, pincushions and potholders. Once again the auction included another of Stephanie Pearce's wonderful miniature versions of our raffle quilt. The auction was also a success raising over $1300. Tickets were on sale for our 2010 Raffle Quilt. Since it was made with Aunt Grace Authentics fabrics, we named it "Aunt Grace's Apron". Kim Hazlett used her magic computer program to create a paper-pieced pattern and members stitched the blocks which were put together by Stephanie Pearce and Rita Kingsbury, who also added the many borders. Lorrie Little did the machine quilting and Kim finished it up with the binding. The drawing for this quilt will be at the November 27 Christmas Craft Fair at the Gentle Memorial Building.
TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE from any guild member for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00 Tickets will be for sale at the quilt show and at theChristmas Craft Fair in November. Drawing is November 27
